Zelensky's five proposals to end the war and restore peace in Ukraine

    President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will unveil a plan this week to end the war and establish lasting peace. He will present this five-point plan to the allies at home and abroad. Details of the proposal have not yet been made public. Zelensky discussed the main points of the proposal in Bay Ukraine's parliament.

NATO membership

A top priority in Zelensky's proposal would be to invite Ukraine to join NATO, the US-led Western military alliance. Zelensky said, Russia has taken advantage of Europe's geopolitical uncertainty for decades. Especially the fact that Ukraine is not a member of NATO. This is what enticed them to attack us.'

The president of Ukraine has repeatedly said that Ukraine's membership in NATO will strengthen the security of not only Kiev, but also Europe and Western countries.

Defense

A key point of Volodymyr Zelensky's proposal is the defense of Ukraine. His proposal is to allow Kiev's Western allies to attack the country's military installations on Russian soil.

Zelensky said Kiev's Western allies should continue to strengthen air defenses in war-torn Ukraine. In this way it will be possible to protect the important infrastructure of Ukraine, as well as to continue training for the Ukrainian forces.

Non-nuclear deterrence

The third point of Zelenskiy's proposal focuses on deterring future Russian attacks. Here lies the issue of non-nuclear deterrence. However, no details were given in this regard. This third phase of the proposal is highly confidential, Zelensky said.

The leaders of the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany and Italy have been informed about this.

Economic Power

The President of Ukraine said that the fourth point of his proposal is about the protection of Ukraine's natural resources. Among them, the country has millions of dollars worth of metals.

Zelensky also said that there is some secrecy about the matter. He said that the matter will be informed only to the allies of Ukraine.

Zelensky called on Kiev's Western allies for a special agreement to protect Ukraine's vital natural resources and to jointly invest and exploit the sector's economic potential.

Post-war Planning

The last point in Zelensky's five-point proposal for a lasting peace deals with what happens after the war. Zelensky's plan also includes deploying Ukrainian forces to replace US forces in Europe to bolster Ukraine's security after the war.

At the same time, Zelensky said, then Kiev should not have to repeatedly ask its allies for military assistance.

"We want, if our allies agree, to replace some units of the US armed forces stationed in Europe with Ukrainian units," Zelensky told the Ukrainian parliament.
