South Korea's recently arrested former defense minister Kim Yong-hyun has attempted suicide. The country's Ministry of Justice said this on Wednesday.

The Ministry has informed the Parliament that Kim Yong-hyun attempted suicide late last night and failed. Now he is kept in a guard room. He is now healthy.

Earlier this month, President Yoon Suk-yeol suddenly declared martial law in South Korea. Because of this political tension started in the country. The members of the country's parliament took a stand against the president's announcement. Within hours, the president was forced to withdraw the declaration of martial law in the face of protests.

Due to this incident, South Korea's politics was in extreme crisis. Then the opposition took the initiative to impeach President Yoon Suk-yeol in parliament to remove him from power. However, the ruling party blocked the initiative, even though President Yoon Suk-yeol is facing extreme obstacles within his own party.

Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun resigned amid political tensions. He was accused of advising the president to impose martial law. Kim Yong-hyun announced his resignation with this responsibility in mind. He was later arrested.

Meanwhile, investigators searched the South Korean president's office today. The media reported that they seized the documents of the cabinet meeting on the night of martial law. 18 investigators participated in the search operation.

President Yoon Suk-yeol was not in his office when the search was conducted.
