Trump asked the Supreme Court to intervene in the case

    Former US President Donald Trump

Former US President Donald Trump has called on the Supreme Court to overturn the conviction and intervene in a sexual bribery case.

This is the first time a former US president has been convicted in a criminal case. Trump, the potential presidential candidate of the Republican Party in 2024, called on the Supreme Court in a post on his social media site Truth Social on Sunday local time.

Trump has been accused of bribing porn star Stormy Daniels to keep her mouth shut about sexual relations ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

Last week, a New York court found Trump guilty of all 34 counts in a lawsuit related to the withholding of information in business documents.
