Most people want coexistence of all religions in India: Survey

 

                           

79 percent of people in India think that not only Hindus; All religions are equal there. Only 11 percent people said that India belongs to Hindus only. This picture emerged in India's Center for the Study of Developing Societies or CSDS-Lokniti survey last Thursday.

The survey also said that majority of urban people (about 85 percent) believe in religious pluralism. This belief is highest among the educated class (83 percent). On the other hand 72 percent of uneducated people also believe in religious pluralism.

On the other hand, only 8 percent of the respondents who took part in the survey said that Ram Mandir is their biggest concern. 22 percent people liked this move of the BJP-led government. 48 percent respondents said that construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya will consolidate Hindu identity. Especially the rich and upper castes (58-59 percent) favor it.

Confidence in the Election Commission of India has fallen at an alarming rate, according to CSDS survey. 58 percent of respondents expressed some or a great deal of distrust in the Election Commission in 2024. About 45 percent of the people who participated in the survey think that the ruling party can rig the election using electronic voting.
