KP's PTI government wants Imran under their supervision

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan

The PTI government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has called for the handover of imprisoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan to them. The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa made this call to the provincial government of Punjab in a statement last Tuesday.

Last week, the Punjab government imposed a two-week ban on all meetings with Imran, who is incarcerated in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail.

Infuriated, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister's Information Advisor Muhammad Ali Saif called for Imran to be handed over to them if they could not provide security.

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan is currently serving sentence in Adiala Jail. He has been sentenced to 31 years in various cases.

In a notice on March 12, the Punjab Home Department banned all meetings with Imran for two weeks. The notice said that all types of visits like meeting, meetings and interviews with Imran Khan will be stopped in Adiala Jail due to security reasons.

Apart from this, instructions for installing barbed wire fence outside the prison premises were also given in that notice.

However, PTI leaders feel that these restrictions have been imposed to prevent a meeting with the founder of the party. Saif said all the prisoners were suffering because of the restrictions imposed on the pretext of 'security concerns'.

Criticizing the Punjab provincial government led by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz, Saif said the prisoners should be handed over to them instead of making them suffer because of their incompetence and fear of Imran Khan.

This advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also said that Maryam Nawaz is busy taking pictures rather than working in Punjab. Dramas are being staged in Punjab to hide inefficiency.

However, the Punjab government denied PTI's allegations. Information Minister Azma Bukhari said that this step was not taken to deprive Imran Khan of any benefits. There was a serious security threat. The matter is being investigated.

Earlier on March 7, members of law and order forces arrested three persons with a map of Adiala jail, explosives. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CPD) of the country said this.
