Hundreds killed in Gaza, Israel claims to capture Hamas members

Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed in clashes between Israeli forces and Hamas in major cities of the Gaza Strip. Yesterday Thursday marked two months of Israel's attack on Gaza. These Palestinians lost their lives in a major conflict that day.

Israeli TV footage showed several Hamas members holding their hands bowing in the streets of Gaza. However, Reuters could not verify its authenticity.

But some of the Palestinians said that those shown on TV had no connection with Hamas or any other group.

Gaza residents say heavy fighting is ongoing east of the southern Gaza city of Khan Yunis. Three people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a house in the Deir al-Balah neighborhood in central Gaza, Palestinian health officials said.

Israel said its forces killed several gunmen in Khan Younis. They claimed that two of them were firing from the tunnel.

An American of Palestinian origin living in the US state of Virginia told Reuters that those seen on the TV footage are innocent. Israeli forces took them from a house. Among those people are his brother Mahmud (32), his son Omar (13), another nephew Abud (27), his 72-year-old father and many other relatives, he said.

However, Israeli army spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said that Hamas was fighting with their forces. During the fight, they came out from inside the tunnel and from some houses. The Israeli forces have verified who among them is involved with Hamas and who is not Without saying anything directly about the TV footage, he said that they interrogated hundreds of Hamas suspects. Many of them have surrendered in the last 24 hours.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, 17,170 Palestinians have been killed since Israel attacked Gaza on October 7. 46 thousands people were injured. According to Israel's calculations, 1,200 people have been killed in Hamas attacks so far. 240 people have been taken hostage.
