Russia has even forced Ukraine to import electricity from neighboring European Union countries to meet its needs.
According to Ukrainego in Telegram, the power supply was cut off in all regions of Ukraine on an emergency basis for the next four hours from 9 pm local time yesterday. As a result, the entire Ukraine was plunged into darkness.
The organization identified two reasons behind this. One, the series of Russian attacks on Ukraine's power facilities. Two, increasing demand for electricity due to lower temperatures.
Some videos from the western city of Lviv have gone viral on social media. It showed that the buildings in the center of the city were plunged into darkness. The street lights are not lit.
Meanwhile, local authorities in the capital, Kiev, said at least 10 percent of homes had been cut off.
