WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus
Gazans are in grave danger, World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has warned.
Tedros made the warning yesterday, referring to the hunger and misery of the residents of war-torn Gaza.
The WHO said it had delivered relief supplies to two hospitals in Gaza on Tuesday. Only 15 of Gaza's 36 hospitals have capacity.
The head of the WHO called on the international community to take urgent action to protect Gazans from extreme danger. He also emphasized increasing the capacity of aid workers to help Gazans who are starving, injured and at risk of disease.
"Hungry people stopped our car today and looked for food," the WHO said in a statement.
Tedros also said that WHO vehicles were being blocked by hungry people on their way to take essential equipment to hospitals.
The Health Ministry of Hamas said that since October 7, the number of people killed by Israel's attacks in Gaza has reached 21,110. Most of the dead were women and children.
