Israeli forces claimed to have obtained some footage of the hostages after searching Al-Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip. They say that they are the footage of those who were taken hostage by the Palestinian independence armed organization Hamas during the October 7 attack on Israel.
Israeli Forces searched the building of Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest in the Gaza Strip, on Thursday. The operation was carried out claiming that there is a hideout of Hamas under the hospital. However, Hamas and the hospital's authorities have denied such accusations by Israel.
The Israeli army claims they found rifles, ammunition and explosives in the hospital building. They also seized some computers and equipment.
An Israeli army official said, "The army raided the entire building at the same time, searching every floor." There were hundreds of patients and medical staff in that building.
Ashraf al-Qudra, spokesman for Hamas-controlled Gaza's health ministry, told AFP that Israeli forces had destroyed the hospital's radiology service. They bombed the burn and dialysis departments. Thousands of sick and injured women are at risk of death.
Last Wednesday, Israeli soldiers entered Al-Shifa hospital building for the first time. According to various United Nations agency estimates, Al-Shifa Hospital housed 2,300 patients, medical staff and displaced civilians. There is no food or water in the hospital. No fuel to run the generator.
Palestinian independence organization Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel on October 7. Israel said that about 1,200 people were killed. Although in the beginning this number was 1 thousand 400 claimed by the country. Apart from this, Israel has been claiming that the Palestinian fighters have held about 240 hostages.
In response to the attack by Hamas, Israel launched a massive attack on Gaza on the same day. More than 11,000 people have been killed in Gaza in the indiscriminate and relentless attacks.
According to UN estimates, 36 hospitals in Gaza have been damaged by the ongoing war. More than half of these hospitals have become non-functional.
